Brief Description of Activity:

Students will first visit the Learning to Tell Time website where they will read about learning to tell time. They will review the different ways to tell time and begin to get a grasp on the idea. They will then visit the Telling Time Practice website where they can practice with the online activity.

General Learner Outcome:

Estimate, measure and compare, using standard units for length and primarily non standard units for other measures.

Specific Learner Outcome:

#9- Estimate and measure the passage of time related to minutes and hours. [E]

ICT Outcomes:

C6 2.1 Use data gathered from a variety of electronic sources to address identified problems.

C6 4.4 Generate new understandings of problematic situations by using some form of technology to facilitate the process.

F1 4.1 Assess the strengths and weaknesses of computer simulations in relation to real-world problems.

Rational for Computer Integration:

The reason for using this page and game is to allow students to explore on their own the different ways of telling time. Once they have a basic understanding, the on-line activity enables them to work at their own pace and develop their time telling skills on their own. It game also allows them to work through more questions in less time.

2. Gave slides relevant titles.
3. Changed the font of the slides to the same large size.
4. Changed information to a bullet format.

Hello, my name is Michael Pierce and this will be my fourth year attending the University of Lethbridge. Although my major has changed a few times, it has always been science based with the ultimate goal of entering the Faculty of Education. I was born in Calgary Alberta, and grew up there until moving to Lethbridge in 2005. Athletics has always held a key position in my life. I grew up playing baseball, soccer, and even curling. As i got older my interests changed to football and rugby, which i play here while attending university. I wouldn't consider myself as a 'runner' but I am training to participate in the death race in Grand Cache next august. It will be difficult to juggle all of the things going on this year but i am ready for the challenge, and look forward to learning to become a teacher.
